Chris Ingham & the Instigators

Chris Ingham is an independent American songwriter, singer, and guitarist. He writes roots music, in the spirit of rock & roll, blues, folk, soul, funk or whatever suits the story being told. While currently playing solo acoustic shows around Nashville, TN he has an affinity for band collaboration and has formed and fronted several bands including the powerhouse quartet Simply Subtle and the currently recording Chris Ingham & the Instigators

Driven by his love of music and appreciation for all art and its reflection of the artist, he writes songs to speak to the soul. In 2008, this sentiment led him to organize a Songwriter Showcase and Open Mic at Washington DC's famed blues club Madam's Organ, as an outlet for the up-and-coming independent artists in the DC metro area.  In 2010, he moved to Los Angeles to study at Musicians Institute and live life on the west coast for a while.  Upon returning to DC in 2012, he formed the band Simply Subtle, which played regularly in DC into 2016 through several lineup changes. In 2016 he relocated to Nashville, TN. After meeting Jeff Hyman, in Nashville, Chris & Jeff teamed up with Simply Subtle alum Steve Hauenstein to record Chris’s second solo album, “Pretty Face” (2018), as well as two rock albums under the moniker ‘Chris Ingham & the Instigators’ with guitarist Tobin Dale, who Chris had known since meeting in LA in 2009. The newest album by Chris Ingham & the Instigators, “Postcard”, was released August 2023 and is available everywhere!
